  1. Welcome students to this lesson and encourage several of the students new to this unit to introduce themselves to each other and the class.
  2. Investigation – Teacher introduces the various pre-recorded video clips in the series ‘Tour of the solar system – News reports’ where the teacher uses the facilities of the green screen to make a simulated live broadcast from the surface of the planet. Activity (5.1.1) and Activity (5.1.2).
  3. See examples of Green screen use provided by Astro – Using the Green screen Resources
  4. Investigation – Students are directed to Activity (5.1.3) Sunspot Activity on our sun to investigate the cyclic nature of the appearance of sun spots on the surface of the sun. This can be attempted as extension work Resources
  5. Reflection – Students are provided with solutions to the above activity with Activity (5.1.4) Solution to sun spot activity.docx Resources
  6. Investigation – Students to explore Activity (5.1.5) - Interactive tour of the solar system website. Resources
